The R35 took the GTR nameplate and dropped the inline-six that had defined it for 13 years. What came back was a twin-turbo VR38DETT V6 and a dual-clutch transmission that launched the car to 60mph in under 3 seconds in base trim. It was controversial with purists and impressive to everyone else. Nismo variants pushed past 600ps. The R35 is not the car the original GTR fans asked for - but the performance numbers ended the argument fairly quickly.
